Human Rights Awareness Promotion System

■ Purposes and Roles
Based on the Joshin Group Human Rights Policy, we aim to actively promote initiatives relating to respect for human rights of stakeholders along the value chain, in cooperation with internal organizations and external groups.
Our inward initiatives include the planning and implementation of education and training programs based on the Joshin Group Human Rights Policy, while our outward efforts involve the enforcement of human rights due diligence based on the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Human-rights Remedy System (Grievance Mechanism)

■ Purposes and Roles
The “Human Rights Remedy System” is a grievance mechanism designed to implement appropriate and effective remedial measures upon receipt of human rights-related consultation or report. It is composed of internal organizations cooperating with the corporate legal counsel and external organizations dedicated to the settlement of human rights complaints.    

Furthermore, in order to address special cases that require expert knowledge and decision, such as international affairs and ethnic conflicts in areas surrounding our suppliers, we have become a member of the Japan Center for Engagement and Remedy on Business and Human Rights (JaCER), an organization dedicated to the settlement of complaints on “business and human rights.” In the future, we will establish a system that enables us to respond to and handle special issues swiftly. Considering the fact that most of the human rights-related consultations and reports from our Group employees are related to various types of harassment, we will continue to deal with them through the Harassment Consultation Desk, which has been widely communicated throughout the Group.
